The Detroit Waterfront District targeted the urban vacancy overlooking the river in the midst of downtown skyscrapers. YAC tasked architects with designing the future leisure and entertainment hub of Detroit.

The Detroit Waterfront District was the outcome of a competition organized by the Manni Group and Sterling Group to design the city's future leisure and entertainment hub.

The area where the Joe Louis Arena stood was planned by architects to be adjacent to the traditional landing site of Detroit's founding fathers. Participants were given the opportunity to design a building complex that would reshape the city skyline. They produced exceptional architectural masterpieces that became the symbol of the revitalization of one of the most iconic and contentious cities in the history of the United States of America.
