The building in the competition area was built in the second half of the 1980s as the Municipality Business Center and Multi-Storey Car Park. The building has a 5308.60 m2 business center area and a 4226.50 m2 multi-floor parking area for 210 vehicles.

The Çanakkale Municipality Bazaar and Life Center competition aimed to design an attraction point that supports trade and lifelong socio-cultural activities that different age groups can benefit from. In addition, a multi-story car park area was included in the competition to find a solution to the need for parking, which is one of the biggest problems in the city center. For this purpose, it was aimed at designing an architectural design that is contemporary, suitable for urban aesthetics, and integrated with its immediate surroundings.

On the other hand, in the competition area, due to the pressure caused by the changes observed throughout the city, a rapid transformation process was observed on axes based on functions such as housing, trade, and culture. Therefore, the competition aims to discipline this process and direct it with design and planning, including different dimensions.
