The Beginning
Gökhan Dede is a passionate individual who enjoys acquiring new skills to further his professional capability and knowledge. He acquired a bachelor's degree in architecture from the Izmir Institute of Technology in 2014 and a master's degree in construction and project management from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul in 2018. He participated design competitions and worked as an architect for three years for different design and construction companies on a wide range of assignments of different scales and scopes.
Gökhan managed to get a scholarship from the Turkish National Ministry of Education at the end of 2017 after a significant amount of effort and study. The scholarship enabled him to study a foreign language and pursue a doctorate in a country other than Turkey. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies at Politecnico di Milano in 2019, he spent six months at Rice University in Houston, United States, enhancing his English proficiency through advanced language courses.
Research to Design a Mars Habitation
From October 2019 to July 2023, Gökhan was a Ph.D. student in the Department of Architecture, Built Environment, and Construction Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he aimed to develop a novel design methodology for a Mars habitation. To reach his goal, he has learned how to use python scripting for modeling, put the principles of graph theory into practice using the NetworkX python library, and used different plug-ins in the grasshopper environment to simulate the environment and structures.
It is likely that future crewed missions to Mars may rely on the multidisciplinary research undertaken by Gokhan in partnership with mathematicians, structural engineers, and space architects in order to design a crew habitat that is both straightforward and secure. On June 30, 2023, Gokhan successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, which was titled "Machine Learning-Aided Generative Design Methodology for a Mars Habitat."
The New Journey
Gökhan's professional skills were altered as a result of the research he did to establish a design methodology for the environment on Mars, and the Python coding he learned in order to undertake graph-data science implementations expanded his career outlook in order to keep up with the most recent advancements in technology. When he decided to get a professional qualification in data science, he was in the last year of his Ph.D. program. He wanted to make sure that his career stayed on the cutting edge of new ideas. In March of 2023, Gökhan successfully completed the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate program offered through the IBM Skills Network on Coursera.
His passion for innovative technological applications compels him to continuously acquire new knowledge and keep abreast of the newest technologies. He is an architect, designer, and data enthusiast.
